NOTICE OF THE APPOINTMENT OF OUR PARTNERS TO THE LAW SOCIETY OF KENYA COMMITTEES.

Mitullah Shako and Associates Advocates is proud to announce that Gilbert Mitullah Omware – Managing Partner and Florence Gakungi Shako – Senior Partner, have been appointed to serve in the Criminal Justice Committee and Alternative Dispute Resolution Committee of the Law Society of Kenya, respectively. These appointments come as a well-deserved recognition of their outstanding standard of practice and legal service delivery in the said areas of law.

Gilbert Mitullah is passionate about criminal law and criminal justice reform in Kenya, with a particular interest in the right to legal representation and how this affects fair trial and access to justice. He founded the Africa Justice and Restoration Trust (AJAR) in 2019, which offers pro bono legal representation for remand prisoners in Kenya’s prisons. In his work there, he has helped to secure the release of wrongfully imprisoned people. In addition, Gilbert presently serves as the Chairperson of the Association of Pro Bono Criminal Lawyers of Kenya. He continues to help the vulnerable and poor through his significant contributions in the strategic litigation practice in Kenya.

Florence Shako has extensive practice and teaching experience in alternative dispute resolution. She is a practising Arbitrator and Mediator. In addition, she is a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (MCIArb), Young International Council for Commercial Arbitration (ICCA), and the Young International Arbitration Group (YIAG).
